LINKIN PARK's MIKE SHINODA Releases 'Make It Up As I Go' Video Featuring K.FLAY
September 21, 2018LINKIN PARK vocalist Mike Shinoda has released the official music video for the song "Make It Up As I Go", featuring a guest appearance by alternative hip-hop artist K.Flay. The track is taken from Mike's recently released solo album, "Post Traumatic".
Shinoda told Rolling Stone that when he initially reached out to K.Flay, it was to finish up a song they'd worked on together during the sessions for LINKIN PARK's last album, "One More Light", that didn't make the cut. "Make It Up As I Go" was originally a ballad but Shinoda tweaked the tempo; the chorus, which K.Flay sang, remained the same as it originally was: "I don't know what I'm chasing, I don’t know who I am/So I make it up as I go."
"We were talking about how it's comforting to think that anybody knows what they're doing but we're all inventing life moment by moment," K.Flay said. "That's a headspace I'm in frequently, and I think it was definitely connecting with Mike's headspace, too."
Some of the new LP was inspired by the death more than a year ago of LINKIN PARK singer Chester Bennington. The latter was found dead in his Los Angeles-area home on July 20, 2017 after hanging himself. LINKIN PARK headlined an all-star tribute concert for Bennington last October in Los Angeles but has not announced any future plans for recording or touring.
It was recently announced that Shinoda would headline the 2018 "Monster Outbreak" tour, which kicks off on October 10 in Montreal.
